The state of Idaho has grant money allocated towards helping homeowners clear and trim trees and brush within 100 feet of their homes.  This is to reduce fire risks of the forest and homes.  They do this by removing the dead, sick or crowded trees; limbing 10 feet up the trees; and cutting down ground brush.

At first we did quite a bit of this by ourselves, but it would of taken us 2 summers to complete what fire safety crew could do in 2 days.  So, we decided to hire them!

The first 7 pictures show some of the work we did behind the house prior to the crew.   The rest show the work done by the crew.  When they were done cutting, then we spent weeks chipping the slash piles they left behind.
